ON THE TRAIL

Pack less. Bring the right things.

A useful packing list starts with the route and season. Confirm the final list with your trek coordinator: winter snow, summer rain and high passes ask for different equipment.

The everyday essentials

  • Comfortable trekking shoes that you have already worn on walks.
  • A backpack with a rain cover, and a small daypack if your main bag is offloaded.
  • Quick-drying layers, warm mid-layers and a waterproof outer layer.
  • A warm hat, sun hat, gloves and spare socks.
  • Refillable water bottles, a headlamp and spare batteries.
  • Personal toiletries, sunscreen and any prescribed medicines.
  • Identification and copies of your booking details.

Keep it dry

Separate dry clothes and important documents into reusable waterproof bags inside your backpack. A rain cover alone may not keep every item dry in prolonged rain.

Check before renting

Ask which equipment is included and which items can be rented. Confirm sizes, availability and the daily charge before departure. Rental availability varies by route.

Pack for the return, too

Bring a reusable bag for your waste. Leave room for the things you carried in, and avoid single-use packaging where practical.
